Five key functional areas began steps to centralize university wide as part of the organizational review and accepted recommendations outlined in the Path Forward. To provide updates on implementation efforts underway, processes, functions and next steps are posted in relation to the anticipated timeline for completion.
Division of Facilities and Energy Services
Establish Single Entry Point for Maintenance/Project/Space Requests
- Aggie Works, the online maintenance and project portal for submitting requests is already live; however, the interface is being updated to support a single-entry point for all projects: routine maintenance, small and large projects (phase 1), and space requests (phase 2).
- It is anticipated for phase 1 of the relaunch to go live in July 2023 with the ability to communicate with the facilities team for status updates and tracking of projects directly within the platform.
Division of Finance and Business Services
Contract Review and Approval Process
- The committee has met and developed an initial list of recommendations. Those recommendations will be presented to leadership on April 27, 2023.
New Budget Allocation Process
- The core working group held weekly meetings to discuss and develop the new budget model. The working group is currently evaluating and testing the first iteration of the model.
Continuous Service Improvement Governance Group (CSIGG)
- The CSIGG committee was finalized. The first committee meeting was held on April 20, 2023. The CSIGG launched an online intake form so the campus community can suggest future improvement projects.
Technology Services
Improve network connectivity for wired and wireless service
- The Next Generation Aggie Network project continues to progress with a significant number of gear shipments ordered last fall slated for delivery in April.
- It is anticipated that the university will receive more than 8,000 WiFi access points to then push out to buildings over the next few months. By the end of the project, it is expected the division will have deployed more than 20,000 units in university buildings.
Improve consistency, efficiency and security of endpoint (computer) management
- Jamf Pro will be implemented as a unified Apple Device Management platform. This tool will unify 17 existing Jamf instances, representing 5,200 managed devices, across Texas A&M University and approximately 2,500 existing unmanaged Apple devices across campus.
- Early adopter migrations began in March and will continue with non-Academic units enrolling through May.
